Fall Grass
by Chris Bouska

I am here
Observing the trees
as they gently wave
in the wind.
The breeze is slowly waving me
back and forth.
Now the breeze is gone,
Not a single thing is moving,
Not a single tree is waving,
And not a single bug is hopping.
I am watching everything still.
Foreseeing my future.
A leaf falls.
I am slowly changing color, dying.

Super Bowl Bird
by Erik - 5th Grade

The bird's point of view:  The Super Bowl was fun. I ate seed and chirp chirp chirp chirp chirp.
Ahem, sorry.  I still have not perfected talking yet.  Anyway, I cheered for the Colts.  The dogs were disturbing because they were barking, but I found the game fun. Erik and his neighbor played a game during advertisements.  There were cheers and noise involved in the game.  Rick and his family ate cookies and pizza.  I wish they could have had some of my seed!
The boys point of view: The Super Bowl was fun.  I ate pizza and cookies.  I cheered for he Colts.  The dogs were begging for food.  I found the game fun and interesting.  My neighbor and I played a card game while advertisements were on.  There was cheering and a lot of noise involved in the party.  Clyde ate his seed like he should, but I still with I could have given him just a little bit of my pizza and my cookie.

The Soldier
by Erik  - 5th Grade

The soldier of the U.S. stands with his gun at his side.
with a whisper-like shout, his gun is raised,
Hiding from the enemy.
His gun fires like an ear-cracking war-cry into the night.
The shot is heard by a nearby troop.
He comes running like an olympic racer.
He stops, and falls to the ground like a thief hiding from the law.
Guns crack like thunder and war-cries
Until the enemy is retreating
Like a mouse from a cat.

The Lively Trees
by Matthew - 5th Grade

As they reach for the stars and the heavens,
They share with us knowledge of decades past.
Bending the wind, it makes a echoing, whistling tune.
Till it rests in a winter sleep.
Their aged boughs have sheltered us
From the harshest of storms
And, as each year passes,
It's mind wisens, grows, and lives on,
Stronger than it ever was before
.
