Elementary Kindergarten Teacher Position

Full time elementary kindergarten teaching position open in an independent, private school setting.  Wichita Friends School is student-centered with small preschool through 3rd grade class sizes that enable our teachers to focus on each child’s developmental needs and encourage children to discover their own special gifts.  WFS is fully accredited by Cognia.

 

Purpose:  This position exists to provide creative approaches to learning in an individualized environment.  The ideal candidate will have experience working in the primary classroom, specifically K through 3rd grade.  At Wichita Friends School, teachers tailor the curriculum to help each child reach his/her fullest potential.

WFS elementary classroom setttings are designed to allow children to experience multiple teaching techniques that optimize opportunities for discovery.  We utilize Engage New York Math, Engage New York English Language Arts, Fundations Reading, and Mystery Science curricula.  Experiential learning, including outdoor exploration and regular field trips, is emphasized.

State certification required.  Experience preferred.  Salary based on education and years of experience.

 Responsibilities:

  • Creating and implementing lesson plans.

  • Accurate recordkeeping.

  • All evaluations and supporting work must be graded in a timely manner and transparent records submitted to parents and administrators.

  • Timely accountability.

  • Diverse strategies

  • All lesson plans should include multi-sensory activities to help reinforce concepts taught.

  • Maintain a clean and tidy classroom.

Substitute Teacher

Seeking individual available to substitute in preschool and early childhood classes (K-3rd.)  Minimum requirements:  a substitute teaching license, classroom experience and a desire to work in a classroom setting that values conscious discipline and peaceful conflict resolution.
