In a time when the cost of education continues to rise, Wichita Friends School is taking a different approach and implementing a tuition freeze. For families weighing their educational options, this strategy can make a meaningful difference—not just financially, but also in how they plan for the future.

So what exactly is a tuition freeze, and why does it matter?

What Is a Tuition Freeze?

A tuition freeze means that we are going to hold our tuition rates steady for the 2026-2027 school year, instead of raising the cost for our families. In practical terms, families pay the same base tuition as they did during the 2025-2026 school year.

Why Are We Freezing Tuition?

A tuition freeze is being implemented because every spring we offer a survey for all parents, and we ask for things we are doing great on and things they would like to see improved in our school. We received multiple survey responses stating that parents would like to see a lower tuition cost or no increase. Our Board of Directors listened to the parents’ comments and insights. For the first time in a many years, our Board of Directors is implementing a tuition freeze. Wichita Friends School did not make this decision lightly, but ultimately, our Board decided this was the best option for our school and our families. There were multiple reasons for adopting the tuition freeze.

Common reasons include:

·       Affordability: Helping families manage costs during uncertain economic times

·       Enrollment stability: Encouraging new families to enroll and current families to stay a part of our school family

·       Financial predictability: Allowing parents to plan ahead with confidence

In many ways, a tuition freeze sends a clear message: our Board and school are committed to accessibility and long-term relationships with families.  Our Board also took into consideration the benefits it would provide to our families.

Benefits for Families

For parents, a tuition freeze offers several clear advantages:

·       Predictable budgeting: No surprise increases for the school year

·       Reduced financial pressure: Especially helpful for families with multiple children

·       Greater access: Makes private education feel more attainable

This stability can be a deciding factor for families who might otherwise hesitate to choose private schooling. We love our Board’s decision to freeze tuition for the 2026-2027 school year and we hope you do too!
